Process4Planet Projects & H4Cs Forum - Parallel session 2. Circularity of resources

Format:In-person
Location:Pasteur
37 participants

1) AshCycle - Elsie Haertjens and Wim Vermeire, VEOLIS

The AshCycle project provides tools for reducing the waste generation from the incineration of municipal solid waste (MSW), biomass, sewage sludge, or combinations of them by developing new utilization possibilities. The project will deploy exemplary pilot solutions of the Industrial-Urban Symbiosis (I-US) concept by demonstrating novel recovery methods for valuable elements from the ashes.

2) REVaMP - Cord Fricke-Begemann, Fraunhofer

The main objective of the project REVaMP is to develop, adapt and apply novel retrofitting technologies to cope with the increasing variability and to ensure an efficient use of the feedstock in terms of materials and energy. This was exemplarily demonstrated within three different use cases from the metal making industry. Due to the industrial relevance, the use cases were chosen from electric and oxygen steelmaking, aluminium refining and lead recycling.

3) PLASTICE - Georgios Tsimiklis and Fotios Konstantinidis, ICCS

The overall objective of the PLASTICE project is to demonstrate innovative and sustainable routes to close the plastic. Three different routes for plastic valorisation will be developed and implemented in real demonstration sites, covering different types of post-consumer waste mixes and obtaining sustainable feedstock for the latter production of new plastics and other high-added-value products of industrial interest.

4) RESURGENCE - Cristina Martinez, CETIM

The RESURGENCE project is designed to help European industries become more eco-friendly and efficient. The main goal is to make these industries operate in a way that uses resources like water and energy more wisely and reduces waste. This will be achieved by applying the ‘’Seeds of Hubs for Circularity”(S4C) concept. The idea is to create “Seeds” which are early-stage hubs aimed to drive the adoption of circular economy principles in various industries.
