Process4Planet Projects & H4Cs Forum - Parallel session 3. Electrification & Energy Efficiency
1) ASTEP - David D. Souza, UNED
Application of Solar Thermal Energy to Processes (ASTEP) will create a new innovative Solar Heating for Industrial Processes (SHIP) concept focused on overcoming the current limitations of these systems. SHIP is becoming increasingly relevant as one of the ways to meet the high thermal energy demand required for industry.
2) PreMa - Eli Ringdalen - SINTEF
PREMA is a H2020 project aimed at demonstrating an innovative suite of technologies, involving utilization of industrial off-gases and solar thermal energy to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions from manganese production as a means to obtain sustainable production of Mn-alloys and steel. The main concept of PREMA is to increase energy flexibility and allow the use of sustainable energy sources and reduce the overall energy consumption and CO2 emission in Mn-alloy production.
3) METAWAVE - Maria Herrando, ITA
METAWAVE aims to revolutionize high-temperature heating industrial processes, using microwave-based heating systems. The project focuses on improving efficiency, reducing energy consumption, lowering greenhouse gas emissions, and increasing productivity. By showcasing these systems in real ceramics, asphalt, aluminium sectors. METAWAVE intends to demonstrate their superior performance. The benefits include higher efficiency, shorter process times, and better control to a more sustainable industry.
4) FIREFLY - Xochitl Dominguez Benetton, VITO
FIREFLY concept introduces RES in the manufacturing process of (electro)catalysts from secondary resources, which will lower significantly the production costs.
The FIREFLY concept relies on the development of: Electro driven technologies for metal recycling from spent, waste, and off-specification catalysts available in Europe - Efficient integration of renewable electricity - A digital tool for predictive decision making - Production of (electro)catalysts for innovative (electro)chemical processes
