Research focus on freshwater algae, cyanobacteria, harmful blooms, bioproducts and redesign algal biomass into valuable products
About me
My organisation
The State Scientific Research Institute Nature Research Centre conducts and coordinates long-term scientific research in the field of natural sciences and takes an active role in the development and implementation of a conceptual framework for the protection of the living environment and its sustainable development. In twenty-five NRC laboratories, scientists carry out investigations into environment state quality, natural ecosystems, habitats, species, community and population structure, regularities and mechanisms of functioning, sensitivity, vulnerability, genetic diversity, adaptations, microevolution under conditions of global change and anthropogenic impact and the development of fundamentals and projections.
The Laboratory of Algology and Microbial Ecology carries out activities related with freshwater algae biomass technologies for about ten years. The laboratory maintains the culture collection of native microalgae and cyanobacteria strains and screens their peculiarities for application to wastewater remediation and valuable bioproducts. Currently, we focus on mitigation of eutrophication, sustainable use of environmental resources and redesign the wild algal biomass into valuable products.
