Sustain's advanced data processing software allows carbon storage operators to store CO2 underground safely and at significantly lower cost.

Sustain

Sustain exists to accelerate the removal of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. We are an aspiring ETH spin-off whose mission is to visualise and reveal the subsurface, bringing certainty to storage operators which inject CO2 underground for its permanent storage. Our vision is to offer an affordable and integrated monitoring solution to oversee the safe and optimal storage of 1 Billion tonnes of CO2 by 2050.

Sustain's innovation is an integrated monitoring solution for carbon storage operators and reservoir engineers. At our core, is a software product that assimilates a diverse range of geophysical and geomechanical monitoring data to characterise the health of the carbon storage reservoir; assessing conformance and containment of the CO2. This is done by leveraging advanced physical simulators and uncertainty-encompassing data-processing algorithms that extract the maximum information during the storage operation. Such a product saves time for reservoir engineers that must design the injection plan, and saves hundreds of thousands of dollars for storage operators by optimising their monitoring costs. Such a service is relevant during CO2 injection and during the permitting stage of the storage project, where the monitoring plan is designed. Our team has a unique experience in working in leading industry and academic institutions in the field of reservoir engineering, geomechanics, inversion and history matching. We are backed by established professors in the field, helping us to transfer cutting-edge research and development in reservoir characterisation and simulation into the CCS industry.
