About me
Anthony Wong is the President of the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) www.ifip.org, headquartered in Austria established under the auspices of UNESCO in 1960. IFIP is a leading international organization in Information & Communications Technologies and Sciences recognized by the United Nations, representing IT Societies and organisations, covering five continents with a total membership of over half a million with links to more than 6000 scientists from Academia and Industry.
He is Adjunct Professor of the School of Information and Communication Technologies, Faculty of Engineering, Computing and Science, Swinburne University of Technology, Sarawak Campus and an Industry/Professional Fellow at the Australian Artificial Intelligence Institute (AAII), Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at the University of Technology Sydney.
He is the Managing Director of AGW Legal & Advisory, a multidisciplinary legal and advisory firm advising in many areas of emergent 4th Industrial technologies including Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data, Data Governance, Virtual and Augmented Reality, Digital Transformation and Digital Economy, Cloud and Blockchain, Law and regulatory systems, Cybersecurity, Privacy and data protection, on Intellectual Property protection and management.
Anthony was awarded double Bachelor degrees in Computer Science and Law from Monash University, Master of Laws in Media, Communications and IT from University of New South Wales and a Master of Intellectual Property from UTS (University Technology Sydney), in Australia.
He is a Member of the Law Society of New South Wales, International Technology Law Association, the founding President of the New Zealand Society for Computers and the Law, Fellow and Honorary Life Member of the Australian Computer Society (ACS).
He is a regular commentator and presenter on topical technology and legal trends across the globe, including at the World Summit on Information Society (WSIS) forum and the UN Commission on Science and Technology for Development (CSTD) on “The multi-faceted implications of AI”. He also hosted a session at the 17th Internet Governance Forum (IGF) on the ethical practice of AI and upcoming regulatory initiatives.
Anthony has written widely on the subject on technology and has published “The Laws and Regulation of AI and autonomous systems”, with Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2020, L. Strous et al. (Eds.): Unimagined Futures – ICT Opportunities and Challenges. https://doi.org/10.1007/978-3-030-64246-4_4 and at the International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence (IJCAI). These publications provide insights on the current debates on some of the opportunities, risks and challenges from the use and deployments of AI and Data, autonomous and intelligent systems and on the recent topical developments in our regulatory systems.
