About me
Martin is a passionate pilot, engineer, and project manager with a career spanning both military and civilian aviation. Since 2013, he has been working as an airline pilot, of which five years fulfilling the role of a technical pilot for Swiss International Air Lines on the Airbus A320 fleet. Martin has been serving as a military pilot in the Swiss Air Force since 2001, currently as a reservist on the Super Puma helicopter. In 2016, Martin co-founded Swiss SkyLab, an organization dedicated to aerospace research. In his capacity as project manager, he works for various national and international applied research projects. These include the development of pilot assistance functions for enhanced aircraft energy management and developments in the field of aviation weather, such as the implementation of real-time turbulence recording on airliners for improved turbulence prediction.
Before his current endeavors, Martin served as a research helicopter pilot at the German Aerospace Center (DLR), conducting scientific flight tests. His professional background also features a previous role at Thales from 2007 to 2012, where, as a senior project manager, he was responsible for the development and successful delivery of two full-flight helicopter simulators to the Swiss Air Force.
Martin holds a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from ETH Zurich and has accumulated over 6,500 flying hours on more than 25 different types of fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters.

The Swiss SkyLab Foundation supports scientific, technological and academic utilization of research flight platforms in Switzerland to promote education, professional training and development.
