About
Cetaqua (Veolia) has experience in the development and scale-up of technologies to produce energy drivers from WWTPs such as biogas, biomethane, biohydrogen and biomass (sludge and slabs). Cetaqua has experience in the development of treatment technologies for increasing the calorific power of sewage sludge (PIROLOD, HE Hyield) and slabs (Ponte; private projects) that can be used as biomass energy vectors.
Besides, Cetaqua has experience in upgrading biogas from anaerobic digestion of sewage sludge separately or in combination with urban biowaste and industrial effluents from the food and beverage industry at pilot and full scale (Coware, Life Siamec, COSIN, Life Nimbus, HE Sempre-Bio and Life Merlin projects). Therefore, Cetaqua has gained knowledge about working with biogas streams containing biogenic gaseous carbon dioxide. Likewise, Cetaqua has gained knowledge about biogas upgrading processes which involve the separation and purification of the biomethane and biogenic carbon dioxide. Thus, the carbon dioxide derived from the upgrading process is transformed into bioalcohols using a catalytic process. The CO2 can also be used to produce microalagae that can be converted into biofuel. With this approach, wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) can contribute to climate neutrality and zero pollution ambition by recycling carbon from waste streams.
