Romanian Society of Medical Informatics (RSMI) is a scientific, professional and non-governmental organization. RSMI aims to foster active research and development within the health informatics community in academic, commercial, and medical fields, both nationally and internationally. Since 1986, RSMI has been representing Romania as a corresponding member of the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA) and has been a full member of IMIA since 1994. Since 1994, RSMI has also held membership in the European Federation of Medical Informatics (EFMI). RSMI members currently lead several working groups of IMIA and EFMI.

RSMI actively contributes to the digital space of health by organizing conferences, courses, and events that bridge the gap between healthcare and technology. Here are some initiatives:

• RoMedINF conference is an annual event hosted by RSMI that provides a platform for researchers, students, and professionals to engage in meaningful discussions about digital healthcare and medical informatics. The first edition of the Junior RoMedINF (jRoMedINF) conference, held on May 13-14, 2024, marked a significant milestone as a scientific event dedicated to junior researchers. Join us in May 2025 at the 38th RoMedINF conference.

• EFMI Special Topic Conference (STC) is hosted by RSMI in 27-29 November 2024 in Timișoara, Romania. Under the “Collaboration across disciplines for the health of people, animals, and ecosystems” topic, we will bring together experts, researchers, and practitioners from various fields, including healthcare informatics, digital health, and education. 

• Training Sessions in (and not limited to) Digital Literacy, Digital Healthcare Literacy, Scientific Literacy, Security Challenges in Healthcare, e-Privacy and GDPR in Health, AI applications in Healthcare, taught by RSMI members, play a crucial role in enhancing the challenges of today's healthcare landscape.
