Angela Odero

Angela is the CEO and Co-founder of Rio Fish Limited, a leading cage fish farm in Lake Victoria, with processing facilities in Kenya. Passionate about empowering smallholder fish farmers, particularly women through mobilization, capacity building, formation of cooperatives and financing. She is adept at navigating the development space to drive impactful change in the blue economy. Her financial training background suits her in financial modelling, project management and impact measurement.

Angela has demonstrated exceptional proficiency in programme management in the Blue Economy sector in Kenya, experience with projects funded by international organizations and development cooperation projects. She has over 10 years experience in Blue Economy starting in 2014 when she Co-Founded Rio Holdings, a Fish farming venture. She has subsequently worked in several Blue Economy projects funded by development partners.

 She recently secured support for women in the blue economy, spearheading successful fundraising initiatives for Rio Fish and raising over $1.5m in grant funding. She has a good working relationship with the Kenya Government and East Africa Community as a member of various technical working groups with the Kenya’s State Department of Fisheries & Blue Economy and East Africa’s Lake Victoria Fisheries Organization (LVFO). She is also the chairperson for Commercial Aquaculture Association of Kenya (CAAoK) an association of producers of cage fish in Kenya and led the Association in reviewing of the Kenya’s Aquaculture Regulations. Angela is a native Kiswahili speaker with excellent English proficiency and a working knowledge of Portuguese.
