This session will feature an interactive Fishbowl Discussion focused on the insights and strategies of the CIVITAS Initiative. It will be specifically tailored to various target groups, including CIVITAS cities, CIVINETs (the National CIVITAS Networks), and CIVITAS projects. By exploring these elements, the session aims to highlight how CIVITAS continues to lead in sustainable urban mobility while addressing the diverse needs of its stakeholders.

The session will commence with opening remarks and a keynote speech from Octavia Stepan (CINEA, European Commission), who will discuss the historical benefits of the CIVITAS Initiative, including significant changes such as the Politicians Exchange Forum. Anna-Maria Martyshchuk (DG MOVE, European Commission) will provide insights into current urban mobility policies and new EU agendas, offering a broader policy context relevant to CIVITAS.

Moderated by Fred Dotter (Mobiel 21), the Fishbowl Discussion will allow participants to engage dynamically, contributing to a rich exchange of ideas and perspectives. The discussion will cover the following focus areas:

  1. Enhancing support and cooperation, sharing best practices, and leveraging collective knowledge.

  2. Aligning initiatives with sustainable and smart mobility strategies, incorporating innovation and research.

  3. Strategies for securing political support and policy advocacy for sustainable mobility projects.
