Innovative floating wind technologies including multi-use concepts
About
There are many benefits coming from the multi use of offshore space both in terms of sustainability of the energy supply and efficient use of space. Especially when it comes to the cost and risk reduction of floating wind technology, multi-use approaches has already shown good potential in recent research projects.
IMDC is specialized in multi-disciplinary numerical simulations for design loads predictions, mooring system designs, climate modelling including downscaling and uncertainty quantification. We use our AI methods to efficiently calibrate our numerical simulation results to achieve higher accuracy. Furthermore, using our software tools, we quantify the environmental and techno-economical impact of various scenarios and design choices with the goal to achieve nature based solutions.
We are looking for synergies with other organizations who are developing innovative floating wind - multi use solutions so that we can identify and address the main challenges together. Due to our involvement in the development and realization of more than 25GW of offshore wind projects (including floating wind such as wind float Atlantic) and 4000km of subsea power cables, we can bring in concrete examples of industrial large-scale applications and tangible solutions into floating wind multi use projects.
