Eco-friendly Design for Municipal Facilities and Public Spaces as Pilot Implementation Areas
About
Çankaya Municipality carried out environmental and social projects within the scope with European Union Grant Programmes and has received awards from many national and international competitions. To mention some of them, within the scope of the European Commission/Horizon 2020/Research and Innovation Framework Program/Nature4cities Project, Çankaya is one of the 4 pilot cities of the Project, together with Alcala de Henares, Milan, and Szeged. It was aimed to spread the practices of nature-based solutions; increase their applicability, develop new business and financing models compatible with them, evaluate the current and potential effects and results in a scientific way, and spread them to policies and continuous practices in a sustainable manner. In addition, in scope with the Town Twinning Grant Program, “Building Resilient City through Empowering Women Project” was carried out in 2018. It was adapted from the women-oriented climate studies of Frankfurt Municipality. A participatory climate policy had been established in cooperation with the experts, non-governmental organisations working in the field of women and climate. Moreover, Çankaya Municipality carried out a design process in the Healthy Cities, Healthy Streets Project under the UK Welfare Fund - Future Cities Programme, which included various activities with the active participation of the neighbourhood residents, as well as development of urban design models for spatial arrangements including traffic calming, pedestrianization, street sharing.
We are seeking collaboration in projects where we could participate as a pilot area for implementation. Additionally, we are interested in projects that could transform municipal facilities into eco-friendly structures.
We are interested in the below calls for proposal:
