About

Zorlu Enerji is an international integrated energy company based in Türkiye with over 25 years of experience in electricity generation and distribution from renewable energy sources, with a significant focus on geothermal power. Geothermal energy plays a crucial role in Zorlu Enerji's portfolio, with three geothermal power plants (GPP) contributing 305 MW of the total installed capacity, which represents approximately 19% of Türkiye's total geothermal installed power.

Among these, the Kızıldere III GPP stands out as one of the largest geothermal power plants in Türkiye, with an installed power of 165 MW, making it one of the most significant geothermal facilities in the world. The Kızıldere field, one of the most mature geothermal fields in Türkiye, hosts three power plants operated by Zorlu Enerji: the 15 MWe Kızıldere-I (operational since 1984), the 80 MWe Kızıldere-II (operational since 2013), and the 165 MWe Kızıldere-III (operational since 2017). In addition to electricity generation, Zorlu Enerji utilizes geothermal energy for district heating in the nearby town and for heating greenhouses, demonstrating the versatile applications of geothermal energy.

Beyond geothermal, Zorlu Enerji’s portfolio includes seven hydroelectric power plants (119 MWe), two wind farms (191.4 MWe), and two solar power plants (5 MWe). The company is also advancing the adoption of electric vehicles in Türkiye through its ZES brand, which has installed over 4,000 EV sockets across the country.

Zorlu Enerji is committed to the ongoing development of renewable energy technologies, reflected in its active R&D projects, which include ten ongoing and five completed projects in collaboration with over a hundred partners from twenty countries. The company also contributes to the academic field with over eighteen publications in five years, highlighting its role as a leader in the global energy transformation, with a particular emphasis on geothermal energy.
