Lithuanian Energy Institute (LEI) is a state scientific research institute, a public legal entity, performing long-term international-level fundamental, applied and experimental development research important for society, academia, decision-makers and industry. LEI is an internationally recognized energy-related research, development and innovation competence centre, which actively participates in the EU programs and international projects, collaborating with businesses and industry. The Institute has extensive experience in international projects, including work for Horizon Europe (6 projects, 1 of them – coordinator), Digital Europe (1 project), LIFE (2 projects), H2020 (26 projects, 3 of them – coordinator), FP7 (24 projects), FP6 (14 projects), FP5 (11 projects), Intelligent Energy Europe (31 projects), COST (27 projects), Eureka (4 projects), IAEA (19 projects), INTERREG-type (13 projects), Nordic Energy Research program (4 projects), EuropeAid (4 projects), etc. In recent years, various research directions were pursued and financed by the Government of Lithuania, such as the development of energy economy planning methods, hydrogen economy, investigation of the safety and reliability of power plants, their impact on the environment, efficient energy and renewable energy sources.
