About

Team KTU will be led by Dr. Ömer Necati Cora, whose research interests include advanced manufacturing methods including hydroforming, ultrasonic additive manufacturing, tribology in metal forming, forming of lightweight alloys, micromanufacturing, ballistic performances of materials, solid particle erosion, and mechanical characterization. He obtained his Ph.D degree in 2009 from Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA, USA and worked in a NSF Industry/University Co-operative Research Center as a researcher afterward. He is author, and co-author of more than 40 indexed international journal publications, and +100 international conference presentations. Dr. Cora is active in internationalization efforts of Karadeniz Technical University, and he is active member of two COST actions (Management Committee Member for Turkey CA 18203 - Optimising Design for Inspection, and Working Group Member in COST Action CA 18120 - Reliable roadmap for certification of bonded primary structures) which both focus on the current challenges in aerostructures. He is also principal investigator of an Türkiye-Slovenia Bilateral Project funded by The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK) in 2022. The scope of the project is to combine different lightweight metallic alloys by means of ultrasonic, laser, and friction stir welding.
