Hydrogen Integration to the Smart Buildings

The increasing integration of renewable energy into the electricity grid requires new ways of maintaining grid flexibility. Wind and solar power, being intermittent sources, do not generate electricity at a constant rate, creating complications for grid operators who need to ensure that electricity production meets demand. One approach to mitigating this challenge is to use flexibility services from various sources, such as smart buildings, industrial sites, demand response programmes and hydrogen storage and usage. In addition, these sources could provide flexibility services (e.g. peak load reduction, frequency regulation, voltage control, reserve capacity).

• Product specific energy consumption tests can be carried out.

• Product algorithms can be analysed and designed for various architectures.

• An ecosystem for white goods, including refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines, cooking appliances, water heaters, and tumble dryers, can be established and evaluated through testing.

• Safety testing can be performed .

• If an appliance is developed as part of the project, it can help to ensure that the white goods become integrated seamlessly.
