Elies Fuster García, a PhD holder in Physical Sciences, presently holds the position of Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Physics at Universitat Politècnica de València. He obtained his doctorate with the distinction of cum laude and international recognition. Throughout his postdoctoral tenure, he secured four competitive international and intersectoral postdoctoral contracts, namely: 1) Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship (Ref. 844646, EC), 2) Helse Sør-Øst RHF (CHRONOS, Norway), 3) Torres Quevedo (Ref. PTQ-12-05693, MINECO, Spain), and 4) a contract for access to the Spanish System of Science, Technology and Innovation (SECTI) (UPV, Ref. PAID-14).
His research trajectory has been bolstered by the I3 certification (Ref. I3/2019/487) from ANECA, and he was selected for the Talent Attraction Program of the UPV.
The doctor has demonstrated his ability to sustain a research agenda by securing seven competitive projects as the Principal Investigator, in addition to private contracts. The doctor's leadership was recognized through the EIT Health "Proof of Concept" project, which was awarded as the best EIT health PoC Spain 2016 project. The doctoral research endeavors were carried out as a result of the candidate's involvement in six European projects, two international visits, one international postdoctoral contract, two national postdoctoral contracts, twelve national/regional projects, various technology transfer projects, and participation in two national thematic networks.
During this period, the doctor has produced scientific publications in journals and conferences specializing in applied physics, nuclear medicine, and artificial intelligence. He has received several accolades throughout his research career and has undergone postdoctoral training courses in research group management and leadership at the University of Oslo. The doctor is an esteemed member of the Spanish Research Group in Neuro-Oncology and serves on the Steering Committee of the COST Glioma MR Imaging 2.0 action. Furthermore, he actively participates in a clinical trial promotion team (NCT03439332) and is involved in the ImPRESS clinical trial team (NCT03951142).
In terms of innovation capacity, the doctor has registered two patents with references PCT/ES2015/070584 (accepted in the USA and the EU) and GB2200594, in addition to six intellectual property registrations. As a result of these endeavors, the doctor has successfully founded two innovative companies (Veratech for Health S.L, and Oncoanalytics CDx S.L), led two technology transfer projects, and currently serves as a Panel of External Experts member for proposals related to COST actions of the EC, the Research Executive Agency of the EC, and the Spanish State Research Agency.
The professor has delivered lectures at Universitat Politècnica de València, Universidad Internacional de Valencia, and Universitat Oberta de Catalunya. He has supervised two doctoral theses and is currently supervising another three doctoral thesis. Additionally, he has overseen eight master's theses and four final projects. He holds the position of associate editor for a journal specializing in university teaching and has authored a university textbook on applied physics, multiple articles on teaching, and contributed to conferences on university teaching. He has actively pursued pedagogical training, accumulating more than 700 hours of instructional courses, and has served as a teaching coordinator in courses at the CFP-UPV.
