Oliver Hussey

Oliver Hussey is the senior business advisor for technology at Business Tampere. A graduate of University of Limerick, Ireland in Electronic Engineering, Mr Hussey has 25 years experience working mostly in Business Development roles in high tech companies across 6 countries, including here in Austria. He worked for 2 years for NewLogic in Vorarlberg.

Business Tampere is the regional economic development and investment promotion agency for Tampere city region in Finland. Since joining in 2015, Mr. Hussey has established the Tampere Imaging Ecosystem, Tampere Automotive Cluster and System on Chip design cluster, employing a member-driven, zero-fee, cross-industry, community approach and employing triple helix model of innovation. His main role is foreign direct investment attraction, successfully helping 14+ companies establish research and development sites in Tampere. This has included wins in camera technology with Xiaomi and Amazon, in System on Chip design with Nordic semiconductor and culminated in bringing Microsoft back to Tampere to design both cameras and SoCs. The current economic development focus is on Tampere’s semiconductor manufacturing offering, and exploring cooperation with other European regions, especially in relation to the EU Chips act.

When not working, Oliver is busy bringing Irish culture to Finland, establishing the Irish Music Festival of Oulu in 2005 and the Tampere Hammer Gaels Hurling club in 2022. He lives in Tampere with his wife and 5 kids.
