About me
Christian Mölling is the Research Director of the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP), and heads the Security and Defence Programme. For more than two decades, he has been researching and publishing on geopolitics, security and strategy with a special focus on defence, armament, industries and technology. Christian advises top level stakeholders in German ministries and parliament on these topics, as well as partner countries, international organisations but also civil society.
Before joining DGAP, Christian worked and held leadership positions at the German Marshall fund of the US (GMF), the Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik (SWP) Berlin, the Center for Security Studies at ETH Zurich, the Fondation pour la recherche stratégique (FRS) Paris, the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) London, the European Union Institute for Security Studies (EUISS) Paris, the German Institute for Human Rights and the Institute for Peace Research and Security Policy at the University of Hamburg.
Christian studied politics, history, economics and law at the Universities of Duisburg/GER and Warwick/UK. He holds a PhD from the Ludwig-Maximillians-University of Munich
