Andrea Masini

Dr. Andrea Masini is an accomplished expert in telecommunications engineering, remote sensing, and video processing. He obtained his MEng. in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Pisa (IT) in 2004, specializing in sensor fusion theory and collaborating with international research centers and industries on projects involving dual infrared optronic systems.

In 2008, he completed his Ph.D. in Remote Sensing, focusing on improving sight effectiveness with Infrared electro-optical imaging sensors through video fusion. Joining Flyby Srl the same year, he made significant contributions to defense and space projects, particularly in bathymetry estimation and oil-spill detection. He quickly ascended the ranks, becoming Head of the Remote Sensing Department in 2010 and CTO in 2013. In these roles, he led projects like OPENSIGHT for real-time situational awareness and drove initiatives related to Automatic Target Recognition (ATR) through artificial intelligence.

Andrea's outstanding achievements also encompassed roles in NATO initiatives and as Deputy Industrial Rapporteur of the EDA CapTech Optronics. His influence and leadership were evident as a shareholder and board member of Flyby Group. In 2020, he co-founded FlySight Srl, exclusively dedicated to the defense, security and space sectors, where he assumed the role of CTO. In 2023, he was appointed CEO. His contributions to scientific papers underscore his prominence in remote sensing and video processing.
