Marc Guell

My research interests are focused on molecular technology development in Synthetic Biology. My laboratory is currently centered on novel precise gene writing methodologies in mammalian genomes and skin microbiome engineering.

I’m principal investigator and Tenure-Track Professor at Pompeu Fabra University, I have received multiple distinctions (EMBO Young Investigator, 2020; National Science Award to the young talent, Catalan Government 2018, Spanish Government 2022; Highly cited researcher, 2019; among others)  and participated in the foundation of several companies (xenotransplantation, egenesisbio.com; skin microbiome engineering , sbiomedic.com (Acquired by Beiersdorf in 2022); gene therapy, Intregra-tx.com (ongoing series A fundraising)).

We are in the process of fundraising for a new venture focussed in skin microbiome engineering (synflora.com) and a new venture in synthetic evolution combining the power of AI to provide intelligence to directed evolution (BIOracle).
