Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals is a part of the Łukasiewicz Research Network, the third largest research network in Europe. With 8,000 staff and 32 research institutes located in 12 cities across Poland. ŁUKASIEWICZ is an integrated market player providing attractive, comprehensive and competitive business solutions in the fields of automation, chemicals, biomedicine, ICT, materials, and advanced manufacturing. The Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals (Łukasiewicz – IMN) is a research centre of the Polish non-ferrous metals industry. Complex activities cover all stages of metallic materials production: from ore treatment to technologies for production of modern products meeting all environmental standards. Many of the developed solutions became implemented in small and medium enterprises, not only in non-ferrous metals industry, but also in other branches. The services provided cover: R&D targeted for development of new technologies, optimisation of industrial processes, modernisation of production lines, construction of equipment, measurement and analytical services. Łukasiewicz – IMN has also a great experience in development of special purpose solutions, technologies and products for the defence industry, e.g. hybrid power systems for special purpose vehicles, i.e. tanks, armoured military vehicles, self-propelled howitzers, mortars and others. Furthermore, the Institute is involved in development of new generation batteries for power supply of autonomus unmanned aircraft that enable considerable improvement in the scope of tactical parameters in the distance range as well as the operational readiness time. We also offer nanocrystalline and amorphous materials for defence applications, e.g. explosive charges, electromagnetic radiation absorbers or armour-piercing shells.
