Theresa Zabell

The Ecomar Foundation has been educating, raising awareness and acting for more than 25 years, especially with children and young people, to achieve a healthier and more balanced planet through marine conservation programmes.

It was founded by Theresa Zabell, the only Spanish sportswoman with 2 Olympic gold medals, who, on retiring from Olympic sailing, decided to give back to the sea a small part of everything she had received. ECOMAR's motto is ‘Take care of the only two places you can never move from, your body and your planet’. This philosophy seeks to engage young people to practice a healthy lifestyle and to commit to caring for the planet in their daily lives.
