My organisation
CRIMARIO is an EU flagship, whose mission is to enhance maritime security and safety in the Indo-Pacific through promoting cross-sectoral, inter-agency and cross-regional cooperation.
CRIMARIO offers a pragmatic way to enhance maritime governance, to promote safer and more secure seas between Africa, Asia and Europe, to support free and unencumbered maritime trade routes, with has benevolent ambitions in mind. If maritime domains/trade routes are secure, trade will flourish, all will win.
Apart from fostering cooperation in the fields of maritime security and safety and combatting IUU fishing, CRIMARIO intends enhancing connectivity in the Indo-Pacific region, in line with the EU’s Strategy for Cooperation in the Indo-Pacific.
CRIMARIO’s main goal is to facilitate information flows amongst regional partners, also offering a means to better coordinate maritime operations among countries
- CRIMARIO is not a Security and Defence Tool (CSDP)
- CRIMARIO is not competing with other actors in the Indo-Pacific.
- CRIMARIO is Maritime capacity-building development aid
CRIMARIO operates through a very flexible framework, its products covering Maritime Domain Awareness and Information Exchange with a focus on:
- Maritime Law enforcement
- Maritime Safety and
- IUU Fishing.
CRIMARIO implements its mission through:
- information-exchange software (IORIS), satellite data, training, courses and exercises.
- pool of skilled experts
- funding to implement all above cooperation
