The eMSP NBSR project (www.eMSPproject.eu), implemented from mid-2021 to mid-2024, provided a platform for marine spatial planners and other experts to collaboratively advance Maritime Spatial Planning (MSP) practice. It addressed five urgent emerging MSP topics through a community of practice-based approach that enabled joint learning across professions and across the North Sea and Baltic Sea areas.
Five thematic strands of the project include Ocean governance; Sustainable blue economy; Ecosystem-based approach; Monitoring and evaluation; Data sharing, Information and Communication Technologies. Project work took into account the European Green Deal, climate change and how climate-neutrality targets can be addressed in MSP. The planners and experts were supported by a method mentoring team and a scientific advisory board.

Stand will be also used to illustrate topicalities of Maritime Spatial Planning in Baltic Sea and North Sea regions, for example, coordination of the Policy Area โSpatial Planningโ of the EUSBSR and the VASAB Vision 2040 for the Baltic Sea Region.
Nico Buytendijk is programmanager at the Netherlands Enterprise Agency who works on the realisation of the Sustainable Blue Economy in the Netherlands, of which Multi-Use of space at sea is an important part.
He set up the North Sea Community of Practice the eMSP NBSR project together with the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Watermanagement. These networks consists of (national) governments, research institutions, NGOs and entrepreneurs. The goals of these networks are realizing a sustainable blue economy and future proof MSPโs together with partners. He is Coordinator of the eMSP NBSR project, which is about MSP across two seabasins. Furthermore he works on the concept of a Maripark, a nature inclusive maritime businessarea.
