About

Campus Mondial de la Mer is France's first community of experts in the study and economic development of the ocean. It brings together research centers, training organisations and innovative companies with an expertise and focus on high-potential sectors such as maritime cybersecurity, marine biotechnologies, marine renewable energies, decarbonisation of maritime transport, etc. Campus Mondial de la Mer has a dual purpose: to foster collaboration between the academic and business sectors, and to highlight the expertise of local and international stakeholders, in order to build bridges with other maritime regions. To do so, Campus Mondial de la Mer offers a wide range of services, and hosts thematic actions. The flagship event is Sea Tech Week®, an international event dedicated to marine and maritime sciences and technologies. Every 2 years, the Sea Tech Week® attracts 1,200+ experts and stakeholders to Brest. The next edition will take place on October 15th – 17th 2024, on the topic of Maritime Safety and Security, with Ireland as the country of honour. Campus Mondial de la Mer is operated by Technopôle Brest-Iroise, a European business and innovation centre located in Brest. It supports the creation and development of innovative startups and companies, and contributes to the influence of Brest as a top-level area for innovation, project development and business creation. In 2023, Campus Mondial de la Mer and Technopôle Brest-Iroise collaborated with Brest Métropole, city and county council of Brest, to organise the European Maritime Day in Brest. Technopôle Brest-Iroise is currently leading the European project SaferSEA, which aims to identify and support the development of innovative solutions and technologies in order to foster the transitions of the shipping industry. The project includes 6 partners from the Atlantic Area, with possible replications in other European maritime basins.
