About
KIMO is a network of local governments, working together for healthy seas, clean beaches, and thriving coastal communities.
KIMO stands for Kommunernes International Miljøorganisation (Local Authorities International Environmental Organisation) and was founded in Denmark in 1990.
Our mission is to prevent pollution and to protect, preserve and enhance the seas and coastal waters of the North-East Atlantic and Baltic regions.
With over 80 member municipalities in eight countries, we represent more than five million citizens in Europe.
KIMO Denmark has 19 member municipalities who cooperate to prevent pollution. We also work together to raise awareness about issues affecting the marine environment.
