The workshop aims to explore niche markets, assess economic viability, and discuss the biodiversity impact of marketing less “popular”, invasive or cheaper species. It addresses supply chain challenges, regulatory adjustments, and strategies for consumer acceptance. Questions will delve into analyzing consumer preferences and demand for alternative species and the profitability of introducing new species. Practical insight will be provided by stakeholders to also evaluate the sustainability of harvesting or farming lesser-known species. Panelists will discuss incentives and subsidies for businesses transitioning to alternative species.
