Pitch Session 2 - Fishers of the future
Description:
This session will present an overview and preliminary findings of the ‘Fishers of the Future’ study, an EU-wide participatory project launched by the European Commission in October 2023. The study examines the future role of fishers in society up to 2050. It looks at fishers’ identity and roles beyond their core business, delving into their hopes, fears, expectations, and needs to understand how the profession is likely to evolve. ‘Fishers of the Future’ explores the factors and trends influencing the long-term sustainability of the fishing sector and the challenges and opportunities resulting from interactions with other maritime stakeholders. The ‘Fishers of the Future’ study is a key element of the ‘Pact for Fisheries and Oceans’, announced in February 2023.
