EMD Cities Roundtable - Sustainable life in a sustainable archipelago
Description
Oxygen depletion and dying seafloor – biodiversity crisis – rising sea levels – extreme weather – fewer and older population – fewer small businesses (fishermen, farmers, tourism operators).
We dream of an archipelago where it is attractive to settle on the islands, that are traffic-equal to a village on the "mainland". A future where the islands, together with their inhabitants, create attractive settings for a sustainable life. We dream of an archipelago that is bursting with life and can form the basis for a sustainable production of local foods and attract tourists seeking an authentic and sustainable destination.
At our round table, we ask for your input on three main topics:
-
Restoration of the marine environment and biodiversity
-
For whom and how do we render the islands attractive for settlement
-
The possibilities of creating a supporting ferry infrastructure
