About
Osmangazi, the central district of Bursa, is one of Türkiye's dynamic industrial and commercial centers. Osmangazi is home to approximately 1 million inhabitants in daytime and is the fourth largest district municipality in Türkiye. The city is located on 7 fault lines, so Bursa is a city that has experienced earthquakes throughout its history and the most dangerous disaster is earthquake.
•HORIZON-CL3-2025-01-DRS-01 Disaster-Resilient Societies: Municipality offers a pioneering model to increase the disaster resilience of local communities with its Disaster Emergency and Response Station and Neighborhood Disaster Volunteers Project. In particular, our volunteer teams working in integration with AFAD and our digital decision support systems provide an ideal infrastructure for information sharing with cities in Europe with similar risk profiles. In addition, international training modules to be developed within the scope of Disaster Village Project and Erasmus+ will contribute to strengthening local capacities in EU countries.
•HORIZON-CL3-2025-01-DRS-02 Strengthening Critical Infrastructure and Rapid Response Mechanisms: Our Disaster Emergency Response Stations project supports “resilient infrastructure” objectives by ensuring uninterrupted service of critical infrastructures in disasters through mobile response and hub capacity. At the same time, the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and digital twin technologies used in the Disaster Education and Coordination Center optimize post-disaster resource allocation, offering the possibility of technical know-how transfer to European consortia. Osmangazi's field-tested models will align with the EU's emphasis on “rapid recovery” and “multi-stakeholder cooperation”, providing concrete data and practical examples for projects.
