Opgezet als een publiek-private samenwerking met de Vlaamse overheid, faciliteert en ondersteunt MEDVIA samenwerkingen tussen healthtech-bedrijven, onderzoeksinstellingen, universiteiten, ziekenhuizen en patiëntenbelangengroepen. Al onze leden zijn toegewijd aan het gezamenlijk ondersteunen van innovatie voor een betere gezondheid op het snijvlak van medische technologie, biotechnologie en digitale technologie. Missie & waarden ‘Het innovatiecluster dat de weg effent naar betere gezondheid’ MEDVIA is een door de industrie gedreven lidorganisatie in Vlaanderen die innovaties in de gezondheidszorg stimuleert door samenwerkingen tussen bedrijven, onderzoeksinstellingen, ziekenhuizen en andere belanghebbenden te faciliteren en ondersteunen. We bereiken dit via op maat gemaakte diensten en specifieke financiering. Ons doel is ervoor te zorgen dat gezondheidsinnovaties van de hoogste standaard zo snel mogelijk de wereldbevolking bereiken. Dit verstevigt de positie van Vlaanderen als een internationale leider in healthtech-innovatie. MEDVIA staat voor innovatie, integriteit, inclusie, kwaliteit, samenwerking en impact. Onze doelen Ondersteunen en stimuleren van economische kansen voor bedrijven in Vlaanderen. en Verbinden en samenwerken met gezondheidsecosystemen in Europa en de rest van de wereld. Over

Johan Lecocq holds a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Leuven and  spent most of his career in the high-tech electronics industry both in management functions and in business development. He built up experience in both the semiconductor and the automotive industry, working successively for Philips Consumer electronics, Philips Semiconductors, Siemens-VDO and TomTom. 

Since 2022, Johan Lecocq is responsible for internationalization at MEDVIA, the Flemish Spearhead cluster on Healthtech.  By building relations with cluster organisations in Europe and with Healthtech hubs outside of Europe, he is developing an international network which can help to support MEDVIA’s members in tapping into international markets.

MEDVIA is an industry-driven membership organization that fosters health innovation in Flanders. We are one of six spearhead clusters supported by Flanders Innovation & Entrepreneurship (VLAIO), nurturing R&D at the intersection of biotech, medtech and digital technologies. We facilitate health innovation – which is increasingly arising at the intersection of devices, drugs, diagnostics and digital solutions – by providing members with funding and services, as well as jointly tackling the challenges facing health entrepreneurs.
