My organisation

KONTEXT Institute for Climate Matters is an independent think tank dedicated to evidence-based climate policy. We analyse the complex interconnections of climate, the economy and society to develop clear, actionable solutions for decision-makers. By translating scientific insights into accessible formats, we foster informed debate and drive effective climate action. Since our founding, we have worked at the intersection of research, politics, and communication. Our focus includes climate justice, policy effectiveness, and depolarisation – because tackling the climate crisis requires broad-based societal support and courageous political decisions.

About me

Katharina Rogenhofer studied zoology in Vienna and ‘Biodiversity, Conservation and Management’ at the University of Oxford. She then worked for the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. Inspired by the activist groups at the climate conference in Katowice, she started FridaysForFuture in Vienna. From April 2019, she was the spokesperson for the climate referendum, which collected almost 400,000 signatures and resulted in a successful motion in the Austrian parliament. In April 2021, she published her first book ‘Change nothing, change everything’. In early 2024, together with Tina Deutsch and Florian Maringer, she founded KONTEXT Institut für Klimafragen, which provides climate policy analyses.
