Sustainable IoT
Sustainable Software Engineering at Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW)

About
IoT (especially in the consumer area) has a reputation of producing short-lived, low-quality devices. Thus, IoT may have a negative influence on general sustainability even if it helps to save energy or natural resources. In this research project, we develop novel ideas, methods, and tools for making IoT more sustainable.
Topics of interest (among others):
-
Sustainable software development for IoT devices
-
Sustainable hardware development and sourcing for IoT devices
-
Sustainable IoT infrastructures
-
Sustainable update and maintenance of IoT devices
-
Assessing and improving the impact of IoT on the sustainability of our society
