About me
Dolores Melgar Freire is a Computational Physicist specialised in Materials Science simulations, with a vast experience in the management of international relationships in the context of research and innovation.
BSc in Physics, MSc in Colloids and Interfaces and PhD in Chemical Engineering, Dolores is currently working in the RISE team of the i2CAT Foundation. The area is responsible for positioning i2CAT in the European Commission's R&I landscape
After finishing her PhD at the Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia, Dolores moved to Dublin, where she led a research project co-funded by the Irish Research Council and Tullow Oil. Then, she decided to redirect her career towards research management and policy. She worked in the International Department of Science Foundation Ireland, which is the largest STEM-research funder in the country, before taking the role of Funding Development Coordinator at Insight, the SFI Research Centre for Data Analytics.
