About

PLMA (human Platelet Lysates Methacryloyl) is a bioactive platelet-lysate derivative precursor, derived from human blood, that can be crosslinked upon exposure to light to form soft materials with tunable mechanical properties. hPLMA is developed through a low-extension chemical modification (methacrylation) of platelet lysates (PL), ensuring the excellent bioactivity of the 3D matrices. This makes it a versatile tool for creating tissue-like structures that can mimic the properties of different types of tissues. Commercialized by MT, hPLMA has effectively served as a modeling tool for a diverse range of tissues, such as osteosarcoma, cardiac tissue, and lung. Furthermore, it facilitates the growth of human cells independently, eliminating the need for external supplementation. The advantages of using PL for 3D cell cultures include:

a) The availability of blood and easy preparation of PL, with the potential to personalize from a patient's own blood. Two major market players, STEMCELL and PL BioScience, who are also our suppliers of raw materials, have been serving the market for years with PL for other applications. It is also possible to use expired bloodderived units that would be treated as medical waste.

b) The presence of multiple growth factors and cytokines, essential to promote cell growth and tissue formation.

c) Current clinical use in multiple applications (e.g., treating alopecia, osteoarthritis, and cartilage).
