Sasia was founded on September 1st, 1952, by Mr. Libório Ribeiro de Silva, and has now, Miguel José Sarmento Ribeiro de Silva, as the current chairman of the board. The company started its activity in cleaning cotton, for spinning. Over the years and following the evolution of the market, it has invested in infrastructures, as well as in new technologies that currently allow production with greater quality and diversity. With 70 years of experience, Sasia is genuinely committed to building long and reliable business relationships and is proud to provide a service that adapts to each customer’s requirements. Sasia takes part in the textiles value chain, producing conscious textile fibers from Pre Consumer & Post Consumer textile waste. We close the loop of the textile industry and pave the path for a more conscious and sustainable industry. We recover both used clothing and textile waste and shred it down to its essence, thus creating new revitalized fibers that will gain new lives in a wide range of industries. Post-Consumer Textile Waste The rise of fast fashion in the textile industry has resulted in a fast growing level of over consumption and disposal of garments. Sasia recycles this post-consumer waste that otherwise would have been incinerated or sent to landfills. Pre-Consumer Textile Waste Pre-consumer waste is waste resulting from industrial production and includes its by-products: remnants of yarn, fabrics and knits, trimmings left on the cutting room floor in clothing manufacturing facilities, among other textile products. At Sasia this waste is successfully recycled into higher value application for several different markets.
