About

Our Sensor Group develops and employs chemical sensor technologies for the detection of chemical warfare agent simulants and toxic industrial chemicals. Devices for different applications have been developed ranging from hand-held, portable detectors to fixed installations of detection and monitoring systems. Other application examples include the protection of critical infrastructure and CBRN detection and protection systems of land and marine vehicles. Adapted versions of the detectors are produced in cooperation with industrial partners according to the specific requirements of the intended applications. The skills and competences of the Sensor Group are related to the topic of “Long term deployment of autonomous solutions/systems/devices to detect CBRN threats in a fast, secure and forensic way”. It will contribute to the expected outcome of the project by providing technology for area (indoor and outdoor) screening and fast chemical threat detection that can be integrated into autonomous systems, including mobile land robots or drones. Furthermore it can develop strategies and effective approaches for CBRN threat detection in critical infrastructure. We also develop Fluorescence and surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) based detection systems that sense and analyze explosives, drugs and chemical & biological threats. TUBITAK MAM has involved NATO working group SET-292 “Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy for Defense Applications” on the detection of chemical threats.
