About me
My organisation
-
BUAS works closely with Breda city to for better management and prediction of crowds related to events (e.g. carnival, kingsday, 538 music festival, jazz, etc…).
-
We have worked with them (and other stakeholders) already for years trying to understand:
-
How many people can safely visit a place, using digital measurement systems (cameras, apps, ..)
-
How people move through a crowd (e.g. related to field lab experiments after covid 19)
-
How we can measure and predict multimodal travelling to and from busy places
-
With Zandvoort we have also worked to understand and manage the crowds visiting F1 races in NL
-
Etc.
-
-
A new aspect is to look at this in another dimension, e.g.
-
How to simulate and predict crowds in different scenarios (levels of business, types of events, etc.)
-
How to work out resilience strategies related to e.g. evacuation of crowded places (due to e.g. weather strikes, riots or other forms of disturbance), in order to increase safety.
-
How to measure the stress levels of evacuees (eg using eye tracking technology through our Experience Lab)
-
If there is room for a contribution to further develop the above, then please consider our participation. Justin van der Pas is leading the expertise area on crowd safety and events, together with LCB Logistics Community Brabant.
