About me

Jeroen Meersmans is an internationally recognized soil scientist (i.e. google scholar H-factor = 41) with a background in physical geography, specialized in modelling and mapping the spatial and temporal variability and fluxes of soil organic carbon (SOC) across a wide range of scales (plot – field- national). In addition, JM has been assessing a wide range of  the associated plant – soil - water interactions in order to obtain a deeper understanding of a wider range of soil health indicators (with a particular focus on chemical and physical indicators) and how these may affect the delivery of multiple ecosystem services. As such, the usage of digital soil data and related covariates (including remote sensing derived) has been a key element in Jeroen’s research activities in order to cover large geographical entities.
