Girls in Science Movement – Mentorship and Empowerment in STEM
About
Started in 2016 as a social impact project, Bilim Kızı evolved into a national-level community in 2024. The project focuses on empowering girls in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) through structured mentorship, skill-building, and inspiration.
Bilim Kızı has reached:
• 81 girls mentored by 53 women scientists,
• Financial support for 43 girls,
• English language education for 19 participants,
• Participation in R&D lab tours and science camps for 33 girls,
• Over 502 hours of AI and data science training,
• Recognition by UNESCO, and recipient of the “Women in Science” award by BUIKAD.
With support from 43 institutional partners, Bilim Kızı continues to inspire the next generation of women scientists.
In 2025, we will host the first Bilim Kızı Science Summit, where mentees and mentors will share their research, achievements, and future goals. To ensure inclusive participation, we are currently seeking institutional support to cover a 20,000 TL funding gap for travel and accommodation expenses for 20 girls attending the summit.
We invite like-minded organizations to join this journey and help build a future where women in science thrive.
