Izmir Governorship

The İzmir Governorship is one of the 81 provincial governorships of Türkiye, serving as the highest public authority in the province and representing the central government at the provincial level. Türkiye’s administrative system operates on the principles of centralization and local governance, with provincial administrations (governorships) playing a key role in delivering public services alongside the central administration.

As the primary coordinating body for public affairs in İzmir, the Governorship oversees a wide range of activities, including education, security, environmental management, public works, culture, social services, healthcare, and the integration of disadvantaged groups into society. It also plays a significant role in EU-related initiatives and international cooperation efforts.
