The Climate Lab is an initiative of the Austrian Climate and Energy Fund together with Wien Energie, EIT Climate-KIC and Impact Hub Vienna. Our goals are clear, ambitious, and imperative. We must build a climate-neutral economy that can limit global warming to 1.5 degrees and reduce greenhouse gas emissions to zero. To achieve these goals, we must reimagine and reinvent our systems, our society, and our economy with unprecedented urgency. We are faced with challenges of existential proportions. Incremental innovation is vastly insufficient, and breakthroughs simply cannot be achieved alone. We must work together now as never before.

About me

Gebhard Ottacher is a social profit leader in the fields of education and clean energy transition. For the last decade he served as CEO  of Teach For Austria and helped build an organisation currently serving 13.000 children from low income backgrounds. Prior to that he worked as investment manager, start-up entrepreneur and strategy consultant. Gebhard was guest lecturer in strategy and innovation at the University of Nuremberg and HHL Leipzig between 2008 and 2015. He holds degrees in history and public administration from the University of Vienna and Harvard's Kennedy School of Government. Since 2021 he has been on a learning journey around climate action and clean energy transition.
