About me
Martin is a journalist and digital media executive with a passion for user-centered news innovation. He has been running DER STANDARD's newsroom as editor-in-chief and member of the executive board for six years since 2017. Before, Martin was deputy editor-in-chief at ZEIT ONLINE in Berlin, an investigative editor at DIE ZEIT, and a politics editor and topic of the day editor at "Sueddeutsche Zeitung" in Munich. Martin is an alumnus of the JSK Journalism Fellowship at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California.
Martin serves as the vice chairman of the online publishers network "OP Next" in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. He is a judge for the Online News Association’s (ONA) Online Journalism Awards and for the Society for News Design's (SND) Best in Digital Competition. He also holds a diploma in Biology (Neuroscience) from the University of Munich. Martin is from Vienna, Austria.
