Ruth Andrade

Ruth started working for Lush in 2004 and soon became the head of environment, inspiring many environmental initiatives during that time. Ruth now works on three main areas: leading strategy for Earth Care within Lush, supporting organisational development based on living systems and helping evolve Lush’s innovative charitable giving strategies. She is passionate about how to transform business into a force of regeneration and to leverage the power of a global brand to do good.

Ruth has a masters in Advanced Environmental and Energy Studies. She is a Trustee and co-founder of Re.Alliance, a collective of practitioners bringing regenerative design to the humanitarian and development sectors, a co-creator of Regenerosity, an initiative with a mission to flow resources, enable learning and share stories to grow the regenerative movement in partnership with the Buckminster Fuller Institute, UNDP’s Equator Prize, funders and grassroots initiatives.

Born in the bioregion of the Brazilian Atlantic Moist Forests, Ruth grew up in a concrete jungle, witnessing first hand the destruction of the natural environment. This prompted an early interest in environmental issues, nurtured a deep love for the rainforest and fueled great passion for driving change. She considers herself a systems activist, identifying key nodal interventions in systems to support the transition to regenerative cultures.

Besides leading Lush Cosmetics’ environmental strategy since 2004, she has also co-founded many networks, alliances and initiatives such as Sociocracy, Dragon Dreaming and Regenerative organisations networks in Brazil; Re.Alliance, a non-profit promoting regenerative design in the humanitarian and development sectors and more recently Regenerosity, an initiative with a mission to flow resources, enable learning and share stories from regenerative grassroots initiatives.
