About me
Christiane Druml was born in Vienna and studied law at the University of Vienna.
Since 2016 she is holding the UNESCO Chair on Bioethics at the Medical University of Vienna and serves as Director of the Department of Ethics, Collections and History of Medicine and Director of the Josephinum – Medical History Museum Vienna.
In 2007 she has been appointed President of the Austrian Bioethics Commission by the Austrian Federal Chancellor.
From 2011 to 2015 she was Vice-Rector for Clinical Affairs at the Vienna Medical University Before that she has been managing director of the Research – Ethics Committee at the Vienna Medical University (1992-2011). Christiane Druml was member of the International Bioethics Committee (IBC) of UNESCO from 2008 to 2015. In 2021 she has been awarded the City of Vienna Award for Medical Sciences.
My organisation
Austrian Bioethics Commission, a governmental advisory body dedicated to addressing ethical issues related to life sciences and biomedicine. Our mission is to provide guidance and recommendations to policymakers, researchers, and the public to ensure that ethical considerations are at the forefront of decision-making in these fields.
