My organisation

Reducing poverty, promoting peace, and protecting the environment – these are our three main goals. We work with our partners to ensure that sustainable development benefits everyone in Africa, Asia, and Southeast and Eastern Europe. With eleven international offices, we are directly present in our partner countries. Our team focuses on the development goals of each country, the needs of the local population, and the optimal use of resources.

About me

Friedrich Stift was appointed as Managing Director of the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) in June 2021. The operational unit of Austrian Development Cooperation supports projects and programs that sustainably create better living conditions for people in countries of the Global South. Ambassador Stift held numerous positions as a diplomat in the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1989 to 2021 and represented Austria as Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Islamic Republic of Iran and the People's Republic of China. Friedrich Stift was born on 30 May 1961 in Röschitz, Lower Austria. He graduated as doctor of law at the University of Vienna and completed his postgraduate studies in Bologna and Washington (Johns Hopkins University – SAIS).
