I earned my PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the Italian Institute of Technology in Genoa in April 2022, where I developed cutting-edge electronic instrumentation for fluorescence analysis. As the CEO of FLIM LABS SRL, I blend technological expertise with leadership and business acumen, overseeing R&D efforts while also managing marketing, intellectual property, customer relations, and supplier coordination. Since January 2024, I have been the coordinator of LaserBlood, an EU-EIC Pathfinder project (www.laserblood.eu) aimed at leveraging fluorescence lifetime analysis technology to develop a non-invasive, blood-based screening tool for the early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.
My organisation
Established in 2019 as an Italian startup, FLIM LABS has swiftly risen as a pioneer in the dynamic realm of fluorescence lifetime analysis technology. Founded by Alessandro Rossetta, Ph.D., in Bioengineering and now led by him as CEO, the company traces its origins back to its inception with the support of ‘PRE-SEED’ funds from Regione Lazio. Since then, FLIM LABS has seen continuous growth, earning accolades from esteemed institutions like Regione Emilia Romagna and the Photon Hub Europe technology accelerator programs. Since January 2024, FLIM LABS has remained at the forefront of fluorescence lifetime analysis technology, leading the LaserBlood EIC Pathfinder consortium in developing a groundbreaking method for early pancreatic cancer diagnosis via liquid biopsy.
