Physical and virtual system validation (hydrogen & batteries)
About
Furtwangen University, offers collaboration in the field of coupled experimental-simulation based system validation.
The research group led by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Steffen Jäger at Furtwangen University specializes in the validation of technical systems with a strong methodological background. The group combines physical and virtual testing approaches, with a focus on drivetrain technologies and sustainable mobility. Key infrastructure includes a newly established Powertrain Laboratory equipped with a high-performance test rig (250 kW, 11,500 Nm, battery emulation), a high-speed gear test rig, and simulation tools supported by high-performance workstations. Both test rigs are modular and can be adapted to hydrogen-relevant technologies.
Current expertise includes drivetrain efficiency and NVH analysis, test rig automation, and simulation-based development and its validation. Methodological strength is supported by several peer-reviewed publications in the field of system validation and intelligent test technologies. The group is interested in contributing to development, simulation, and experimental validation within battery and hydrogen-powered machinery. Contributing to the coordination of work packages is also welcome. The team is actively seeking new collaborations to expand its research network and to contribute to structured knowledge transfer in national and international projects.
