Digital Production (DP)

The Digital Production (DP) team is one of the four core research domains within the Productions Core Lab. Its mission is to enable smart manufacturing environments by focusing on digital transformation across multiple layers of production.

Key focus areas include:

1. Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) Architectures and Tools
   The team develops robust connectivity and data exchange frameworks to interconnect machines, sensors, and software systems. This foundational digital infrastructure supports real-time data capture and communication across the shop floor.

2. Intelligence for Decision Support
   They design AI and data-driven tools to support operational, tactical, and strategic decision-making in areas such as:

   • Production scheduling

   • Quality management

   • Resource allocation

3. Digital Transformation Methodologies
   The team supports manufacturing companies through the entire transition to digital production. This includes:

   • Capturing operational requirements

   • Designing system architectures

   • Managing change and stakeholder involvement

   • Integrating new digital tools and technologies into existing production systems
